Jay Z 9/11 Concert

Jay Z is one of the longest surviving and successful artists of our era. He recently hosted a concert in New York City on September 11th 2009. This concert was full of surprises but also was for a great cause. It was in remembrance of the terrorist attack on September 11th 2001. Jay Z’s first Blueprint album came out on September 11th 2001. That compatible disc (CD) went on to become one of the top albums of all time! It was #464 out of 500 on the Rolling Stones Greatest Albums of all time. Jay Z has survived longer than an other artist, and his concert’s message will also live on.

The tribute concert was in Madison Square Garden and was named “Answer the Call”. The Concert was a memorial to the attacks and every one was prepared for a bang. “The 39-year-old Brooklyn native performed to a sold-out crowd Friday night for his "Answer the Call" concert, which paid tribute to the police officers and firefighters who died responding to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.” (NPR- Associated Press). The concert was kicked off by a pledge of allegiance in the beginning.

The concert did not disappoint. Nearly every star in popular demand came to the concert. Kid Cudi, Santigold, P. Diddy, Mary J. Blidge, Pharell, and Kanye West, and Rihanna joined Jay Z on stage. One of the most memorable moments in the concert was in the middle; there was a moment of silence in the middle of the concert for all of those people who lost their life. Many people have enjoyed the concert; Matt Deutsch has been quoted as saying “it was inspirational to all that were watching.” He also said “besides the great performance it was an excellent tribute to all that lost their lives”. Jay Z’s concert was on September 11th 2009 and was a remembrance to the lives lost.

Jay Z is an artist that understands the importance of remembering traumatic events in of past. His influences will convert over to a breed of new artists. His concert help new artists who will hopefully carry over Jay Z’s contributions. His concert was truly inspirational and well received that Fuse continues to play the concert.
